Copperplate ran 4th, beaten 2.5 lengths, in the 3rd race at Woodbine earlier this evening.
Emma-Jayne Wilson told Danny that even though Copperplate broke from the gate sharply, he wasn’t really engaged for the first 100 yards or so. She shook him up a bit and the race unfolded pretty much as we had hoped from that point on. He stalked the pace down the back side and made a move in the turn. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get to the lead and lost a bit of ground going down the stretch.
Initial indications are that he has come out of the race in good shape. We’ll give him a few days and then start trying to find something suitable for his next start.
