High Powered won the fifth race at Belterra Park earlier this afternoon and set a track record in the process. He broke very sharply and grabbed the lead right out of the gate. Perry told us that High Powered was very keen to go, but he was able to get High Powered to settle in just off The Moment Is Now. Perry kept High Powered under restraints all down the backside and through the turn. Imperial Mission made a huge move in the turn and drew even with High Powered on the outside. The duo collared The Moment is Now coming into the lane. Imperial Mission grabbed the lead and it looked like he might pull away in the stretch. However, High Powered rallied late to get a nose in front in deep stretch. He was able to hold off Imperial Mission’s re-rally to win by a head.
He covered the one mile turf course in 1:34.53.
