Maleah Earns Black Type in Debut

Maleah made her racing debut with a third-place finish in the Tah Dah Stake at Belterra Park earlier this afternoon. She broke a bit slow and found herself toward the rear of the pack in the early strides. She made a big move in the next 100 yards or so and pulled even with the leader, Silver Kiss. That pair went into the first turn with a two-length lead over the rest of the field. Silver Kiss pulled out to lead by about two as they turned for home and Maleah still had a sizeable lead for the place. Silver Kiss was much the best and pulled away to win by double digits. The lack of experience caught up to Maleah as she tired through the lane. She got caught late for the place but held onto show to pick up some black-type.
Maleah acquitted herself very well. Bracho told us he was feeling really good about his chances in the turn. She just got tired late. She beat a lot of fillies that already had wins under their belts. She should get a great deal of fitness out of this race and be very tough in a maiden special next out. Initial indications are that she has come out of the race in good shape.
