Pocket Aces Racing Adds Half to Stakes Winner Irish Aces

Pocket Aces Racing LLC is thrilled to announce that we have purchased the half-brother to our own Irish Aces, recent winner of the Tapit Stakes at Kentucky Downs. He is by Tiz the Law, the leading freshman sire of 2024. We purchased the colt on Sunday afternoon.

He looks a lot like his older half-brother, though he may be just a bit bigger than Irish Aces was at this point. He has good size, scope and strength and tracks well through all four limbs. He has an excellent hip and shoulder.

We’ve watched his walking video from the online catalog numerous times since it became available. We don’t normally spend too much time on those, but we’ve obviously had our eyes on him for some time.  We liked what we saw from the start. He is athletic, light on his feet and has a very fluid stride for such a big horse.  When we looked at him on the sales grounds Sunday morning, his walk wasn’t quite as impressive. We asked the consignor about it and they informed us he’d been shown more than 200 times the first two days he was there. By Sunday, his third day on the grounds, he was exhausted, a little sore, and completely over the entire process. Remember, as a yearling, he has spent almost his entire life turned out in a field. He’d never experienced anything this physically or mentally demanding. That is very likely the biggest reason we got a colt that should have brought in excess of $100,000 for just $50,000.

Tiz The Law is a son of Constitution. He posted a career record of 6-1-1 with $2,735,300 in earnings from nine starts. He won the Grade III Holy Bull and FIVE grade one races including the Champagne, Travers, Florida Derby and Belmont Stakes. His stallion career is off to an equally impressive start. He is the #1 first crop sires and has stakes winners Tiztastic and Out on Bail to go along with eight other winners from 30 foals to run.  He is getting runners on turf and dirt.

We texted Brendan Walsh immediately after the purchase.  His response, “Can I take a leg?”  Needless to say, we said yes and he will go to Brendan when ready for the track.

The colt has already sold out.
