Our first purchase out of the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale was Hip 2141 on Monday. This filly is by the very solid sire, Dialed In. She is out of Honored Promise by Speightstown. To say we were surprised to get this filly for $37,000 on Monday is an understatement.
Honored Promise 22 already has good size. In addition, she’s a May foal and looks like she has plenty of growing still to do. She moves well through her knees and ankles and tracks very well behind. She has a huge stride and moves very fluidly with a lot of athleticism. While she is a handy type and looks like she will be very quick, the top side of her pedigree should inject some stamina. As nice as she is physically already, we expect her to only get better with time. She has tons of quality and a very classy demeanor.
The filly has a sneaky good pedigree as well. Dialed In is a top-25 national sire and consistently throws good runners. With over $42 million in earnings from 8 crops of racing age, he has gotten 69% runners from foals and 69% winners from starters. He has sired Graded Stakes winners Defunded, Super Stock, Get Her Number, The Tabulator and Gunnevera!
Her broodmare sire, Speightstown, is a perennial leading sire and is emerging as a top broodmare sire. While the dam was just placed at 3YO, three of her siblings are graded stakes horses and another one of her sisters has produced a graded stake horse.
The filly is at Silver Springs Training in Lexington. We expect her to be based in Kentucky when ready for the track.
